Oh yeah… Bah, who needs nicknames anyway. Unless, of course, you really rather like Pirate Boy, in which case I’ll send him an owl and have him swing by. And believe me, mon cœur, they’ll think you’re an angel. I’ve expounded your virtues, charm, humility, grace, and compassion enough times over. The moment you sweep through the door, they’ll be tripping over themselves to treat you like a lady. I may get a few more scars fending them off.
Even a real fern couldn’t out-Fern my Fern. You’re the Ferniest Fern I know, besides being the only one I know. C’est pourquoi je t’adore, oui?
Oh… I think I’m quite a fan of this Pirate Boy. It’d be rude to just send him away without saying hello, at the least. I would hate to be rude, wouldn’t you? Now now now… I guess time away couldn’t even still that silver tongue of yours, hmm? I’m sure that, as always you adorably but inevitably exaggerated my good traits. I can nearly always count on you to do so… But you needn’t worry about fending them off. When it comes to matters of the heart, I’m not easily swayed.
I’m so Fern-y I might turn green any day. And then, you’ll never know when I’m envious. Yes, this seems like a very solid plan.

Hmmmm, it is funny. Not sure if it fits, though… What about “brave, heroic, almost mortally wounded but too dashing to die” Vance? I like that better. And way better than “pirate boy”. Heh, it was in good fun. I dished it back as good as I got. It was the best way to keep our spirits up. That, and keep tallies on how many Death Eaters we’d captured or killed, but that lost its appeal after a while. I’m sure the boys that are still in St. Mungo’s would love nothing more than a visit from you. They’ve heard about you, so they’d probably feel like they were being visited by an angel. Especially if you brought them flowers.
Maybe there are, but I have yet to meet them and when it comes down to it, none of them would be you. Mary soes have her own charm, but she’s no Fern Longbottom. Anyway, who says Hufflepuffs can’t be brave? You’re all brave, just as brave as any Gryffindor, you just don’t brag about it. Which I missed most about you.
Nicknames are supposed to be shorter than your actual name, love. Though, what an accurate title that’d be…. but I don’t know, Emile. I’m quiet fond of pirate boy. I wouldn’t mind a visit from him at all. I am glad that you found something to do out there though. I do doubt, however that they’ll think of me as an angel. “Hello, I’m Fern. You know, Gabriels second cousin, four time’s removed? No? Well, here, have some petunias.” I can see it ever so clearly now.
Yes, no one can out Fern Fern, that’s a true fact. Unless an actually fern enters the competition in which case, things might get tricky.

Yeah. If it makes it sound more interesting, it was my little toe, and you can’t walk properly without your little toe. Hmmm, dashing? Me? Well, if you say I can pull it off, then I must be able to, eh? The others in my squad were not so kind. They called me “pirate boy” because I had to wear an eye patch for a week. The scar’s pretty much gone, can’t even see it now, and it wasn’t interesting anyway. You should see some of the others.
Oh ma chère Fern, why would I want to do that when the most lion-hearted woman in the world is right here? None of the ladies I worked with came even close to being as brave as you, or as beautiful and sweet.
I don’t know… Gimpy Vance is a very very funny nickname. I’m sure your squad was only joking around with you. They had to give you a rough time, they were concerned that even scared, you’re probably far more handsome then they. How embarrassing for them. I might visit the others, actually. Bring them flowers, thank them for having your back or some other type of commeradic term.

I dare say that there are braver, more beautiful girls out there. Look at Mary McDonald. She’s beautiful, and rather daring. But I will admit that I might be a teeny bit sweeter. Not that she’s not kind… anyway. You’ve returned, and that’s what’s important. Besides, I doubt you’d find anyone more loyal. I’m a proper Hufflepuff in that area at least.
I did miss you. Quite a bit.

Don't tell my brother, Fern. S'il vous plait. I'm back, though.
Jack… you really ought to tell him yourself anyway. I’m sure he’d be so pleased to see you. I know that I am. Or at the least, relived to hear from you.
You. well, I’m glad your safe, that’s really all that I can say I suppose. Thank you, for telling me… I was worried sick you know that?
I’m alright and all in one piece. A few new scars and all that, and I had to have a toe regrown, but that’s all.
Of course I am here. Why wouldn’t I be? How could I forget about you?
A toe? Oh gosh… well.. at least you’re all right I guess. And if anything, you just look more dashing, love. You’re lucky that way now aren’t you? Not many blokes could carry it off.

I don’t know. I’m not always the most memorable girl. I’m not so vain or naive to not have thought that you might meet some lion hearted girl out on the battlefield.

And yet… I’ve not heard word from Emile.. I’m sure he know’s I’m still here… but should any one hear from him, point him towards the castle, all right?
Ohhhhh Fern, ma bien-amiée, mon cœur, mon précieux?
You’re all right? All in one piece?

You’re really here?
